The ITIL 4 Foundation Exam
Passing the ITIL 4 Foundation exam is the first step in the new ITIL 4 Certification Scheme and might be trivial to some but can be quite challenging for others. Depending on one’s background it can be a bit more difficult than anticipated, but this article (including our quiz) is here to help you prepare.
Here is what you need to know:
- The exam comprise of 40 multiple choice questions
- 26 correct answers are required (65% passing score)
- There is only one correct answer for each question
- You get 60 minutes (and an additional 15 mn for non-native English speakers)
- Question types include standard, list, missing word and negative

ITIL 4 is the latest release of the globally acknowledged IT Infrastructure Library framework. It provides guidance to businesses and individuals on how to use modern IT Service Management practices combined with an Agile mindset to meet ever-changing business needs and deliver value to its users. ITIL is supported by a comprehensive certification scheme, which spans knowledge from the principles to how the entire framework fits together.
There are none.
However, it is strongly recommended to attend an official course or e-learning.
There are numerous resources available on the web as well, helping you with the preparation:

Both the actual and the practice test questions have been taken from a big pool of questions. So, yes, it can happen, that you see the exact same or very similar questions during the official ITIL 4 Foundation exam.
As often as you like, there is no limitation.
Please note that the ITIL 4 Foundation quiz contains 20 questions. For the full practice test, please provide your e-mail address and download the PDF file.
To pass the official ITIL 4 Foundation exam, you need to have 26 correct answers out of 40 questions.
Nevertheless, we suggest to aim for a better score on the practice test, somewhere around 80%-90%, as the actual exam questions might be a bit harder.

For the ITIL 4 Foundation exam, you have 1 hour by default but you get 25% extra time if English is not your native language.
For the practice quiz on our page, there is no time limit, nevertheless, you should finish in max. 37,5 minutes to simulate the available time during the actual exam.
Native English speakers get roughly 90 seconds per question while non-native English speakers get roughly 110 seconds.
There are no prerequisites for taking the ITIL 4 Foundation mock exam, however, it is suggested to attend the official course or prepare in some other way.
